SEO will always have the technical aspects of optimization, but as the web evolves around social, the search algorithms will start to change and rank around how a particular page or site is weighed "socially."

I do agree that social media is surging and sites are being found this way more than through SEO. However, SEO cannot replace social media. SEO involves many other aspects including your site's content, HTML structure, strength of links, etc. which social sites cannot compensate for. It will be interesting, however, to see how social media sites become more visible on the web. Maybe companies will begin to put more of their info on social sites if they are more searchable on Google than their own websites.

To use on Social Media or SEO tactics, 'tis the question. The answer is neither. The decision to emphasize one opposed to the other is largely determine by:

- Audience type
- Available (smart) content to publish
- Web strategy

The concepts are no more dueling banjos than a crowbar and a hammer. Both will accomplish the desired task (of demolition) but there are specific instances where you'll rely on one more than another.
